Vacation-proof your Tacoma Real Estate home...

...or home in Pierce, King, or Thurston Counties.

Before heading out on vacation, go through this checklist to help keep your Tacoma home safe and secure.

• Request the Post Office to put a hold on your mail.
• Stop newspaper delivery while away.
• Set automatic timers for your lights to mimic your normal patterns.
• Let your security service provider and/or the local police know your home will be empty.
• Adjust the thermostat -  in the winter, no lower than 55; in the summer, no higher than 85.
• Unplug sensitive appliances such as computers, televisions and microwaves.
• Turn off the water supply to toilets and your washing machine.
